Summitek Instruments Passive Intermodulation - When Passive IM is critical, we don't just specify it, we measure it... Summitek Instruments, Inc. - Intelligent Instruments for RF Test and Measurement
Product Overview:
Summitek offers several models of passive intermodulation (PIM) analyzers to cover a variety of wireless communications bands. All standard models include an RF test set, a power supply, and a computer controller. Additionally, each model can be ordered in a "K" version which provides front-panel access directly to both high-power carriers. The RF test set is also sold as a separate unit for those who perform testing in more than one communications band, but would like to use only one power supply and control unit.

Front Panel Features

The IM analyzer control interface is intuitive and easy-to-use. It also offers the flexibility of two modes of operation: Engineering, and Production.

Engineering Mode

Adjust transmit power and carrier frequencies while viewing the results in real time.

Measure reflected and through performance without recabling.

Select between display formats:

Production Mode

Production testing is as simple as . . .

  1. Connect the Device Under Test to the analyzer.
  2. Enter appropriate test documentation.
  3. Press the Begin Test button.

Pass/Fail status is automatically determined and displayed, printed, and/or logged to ASCII file.

Configurations

Standard or "K" Configurations:

 RF Test Set
 DC Power Supply
 Computer/Controller
 Control Interface

The control module can automatically level the output power from both high-power carriers greatly simplifying intermodulation measurements. Reflected and through measurements are made without recabling which mitigates connection repeatibility issues.

The K series of Passive IM Analyzers adds front-panel access to the high-power carriers before they are combined. Although there are several tests which could use this configuration, it was specifically developed to address IM testing in dual-polarized (2-Port) antennas (see our Application Note which describes antenna testing).
